★ Episode 03 · Independence Day Special Edition
On July fourth, seventeen seventy-six, thirteen colonies signed a document in Philadelphia declaring themselves free of a foreign crown. What they were really declaring was monetary sovereignty. The first act of the new republic, in seventeen ninety-two, was to define the dollar — not by decree, not by promise, but by weight. Three hundred seventy-one grains of pure silver. Twenty-four grains of pure gold.
Two hundred and fifty years later, that architecture is being remembered — quietly, urgently, by the world's central banks. Gold sits at four thousand one hundred thirty-five dollars per ounce, one hundred thirty-two percent above where it stood five years ago. Silver, sixty-one dollars, up one hundred thirty. The S&P, up seventy-two. Bitcoin, up eighty-two — but sixty percent off its highs.
The dollar index closed at one hundred point eight six, down nine consecutive sessions. The ten-year Treasury yield settled at four point four-nine. And palladium — the cautionary tale — down fifty-five percent over five years. A reminder that not every metal is a store of value. Only the ones the world has decided to trust.
This week we honor the men and women in uniform who defend the sovereign compact. Valor Precious Metals is proudly a service-disabled veteran-owned business. The vault we operate stands on the same principle they defend.
